HOMEBUILDER’S VOLUNTEERS HELP PAINT THE TOWN WHITE AT WARRINGTON CHARITY SHOPS

Colleagues at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West have lent a helping hand at St Rocco’s shopfronts in the Cheshire area.

The employees at the leading homebuilder attended the shop in Lymm to help the charity achieve a fresh new look, and have plans to give the Stockton Heath shopfront a makeover as well.

The Lymm shop has been given a new lease of life after several volunteers from David Wilson Homes helped sand down and repaint the windows and doors with fresh coats of white paint, kindly donated by L & H Decorators.

After previously being named the developer’s charity of the year, employees have continued their efforts in fundraising for St Rocco’s through raffles, donations and a successful charity golf day carried out by Planning Director Andrew Taylor and Finance Director Noel Pettersson in June.

Paul Tonge, Retail Operations Manager for St Rocco’s Lymm shop, said: “The team that kindly volunteered on the day did an absolutely amazing job painting the front of our Lymm shop.

“It’s transformed, it looks like a totally different shop! Thank you so much for everyone’s time, it is very much appreciated.”

Since its foundation in 1985 by Dr Michael Thomas, St Rocco’s has been providing specialist care to those with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones living in the Warrington area.

At present, the hospice is run by over 600 volunteers of all ages from across Cheshire.

Only a fifth of St. Rocco’s running costs are covered by the NHS and the national government. To maintain its current level of support to those in need of care, counselling or both, the charity is largely dependent on external donations from the local community.

Rob Holbrook, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “As a five star homebuilder, we always seek out ways in which we can help the local community in the areas we build in and feel that St Rocco’s make an invaluable contribution to the Cheshire area.

“It was fantastic to be able to volunteer at the shopfront for the day and we relish the opportunity to be able to give back to such a great charity.

“We look forward to more volunteer days and fundraising events for the fantastic charity throughout the year and through a range of employee-driven initiatives.”
