The cards are available in two colourful designs and come with a copy of the ‘The Library Promise’, a booklet setting out what youngsters can expect from their local library.

Among the pledges are guarantees that young visitors will receive a friendly ‘hello’, can relax in a comfortable environment and always get help to find the books they will love.

In addition, a series of children’s events and activities will be taking place in libraries across Bolton over half term.

Whether designing a rocket, making crafts for Chinese New Year or creating bird feeders, there’s bound to be something to stave off any half term boredom.

Bolton Library services recently decided to scrap late fees for children under 16 and cancelled all historical fines, a decision which has seen an increase in books taken out by young people.
