GREATER MANCHESTER CHARITY RECEIVES DONATION FROM AMAZON

A Greater Manchester charity has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Manchester.

Forever Manchester raises money to fund and encourage community activity across Greater Manchester. The charity works closely with neighbourhoods to support and create projects that bring people together.

Projects the charity supports include foodbanks, mental health support groups, homelessness projects and domestic violence support groups.

The team at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Manchester also donated £1,000 to the charity last year, which went towards funding grassroot community projects in Wythenshawe. This year’s donation will be used to help fund Christmas Get Togethers in Wythenshawe where people can gather to celebrate Christmas who might not otherwise have that Christmas celebration.

Speaking on the donation Ian Jackson, General Manager at Amazon in Manchester, said:

“Forever Manchester has been integral to funding some brilliant projects across Greater Manchester over the years, such as the community projects in Wythenshawe. Our team is pleased to help Forever Manchester once again this year and it’s great to support the charity’s staff and volunteers with this donation.”

Louise Bennet, one of the employees at Amazon in Manchester who nominated the charity for the donation, added:

“I’m pleased my team is supporting Forever Manchester again this year. I really like the fact the charity works with lots of different activities throughout the county, meaning it helps people from all different walks of life.”

Jean Mills from Forever Manchester said:

“Thank you to Ian and the team at Amazon in Manchester. It is donations like this that helps us continue supporting important community activities across Greater Manchester.”
The donation to Forever Manchester was made as a part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses, as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
