A new Great Gift Card Giveaway campaign is due to go live in Oldham on 5th July, giving people a chance to instantly win an Oldham Gift Card as a reward for shopping local.

Between 5th July and 19th July, businesses who are part of the Oldham Gift Card will be handing out small cards to their customers featuring a QR code linking to an online game which will reveal if the customer has won an Oldham Gift Card.

£500 in Oldham Gift Cards will be given away during the campaign with 1 x £100 Oldham Gift Card, 2 x £50 Oldham Gift Cards, 8 x £25 Oldham Gift Cards and 10 x £10 Oldham Gift Cards to be won.
Oldham’s gift card was introduced by Oldham Council in August 2024 as a way to encourage local shopping and keep spend locked into the area. Over 50 national and independent businesses in Oldham accept the card, including businesses in the town centre, Tommyfield Market and Spindles Shopping Centre.

Oldham Council Leader Arooj Shah said the Great Gift Card Giveaway is a celebration of local shopping: “We launched the Oldham Gift Card to make it easy to shop local in Oldham and provide tangible support for our business community in Oldham. The Great Gift Card Giveaway is a chance for people to win an Oldham Gift Card and, if they haven’t already, to try out the card and see just how easy and enjoyable it is to use.”

The Oldham Gift Card is part of the award-winning Town & City Gift Card concept from fintech Miconex, active across the UK and Ireland.

Colin Munro is the CEO of Miconex and said: “The Great Gift Card Giveaway is a chance for businesses to give added value to their customers as a reward for shopping local. And for customers, it’s a chance to win the ultimate ‘shop local’ Gift Card and experience all that Oldham has to offer – from the big brands you know to the local businesses you love.”
