Grammy‑nominated sitar player in Manchester this weekend

Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan, one of the world’s leading sitar players, brings an evening of Indian classical music to Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Theatre, Manchester on Sunday 7th September 2025.

This Manchester date follows a London performance at the Royal College of Music on Saturday 6th September. Khan will be joined by two standout young tabla artists, Zuheb Ahmed Khan and Shariq Mustafa, for a rich, rhythmic conversation between sitar and tabla, making the event accessible for newcomers and a treat for long-time fans.

A Grammy-nominated musician and seventh-generation representative of the Imdadkhani gharana (musical lineage), Shujaat Khan is the son and musical heir of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan. He has performed on the world’s great stages, recorded more than 100 albums, and is renowned for gayaki ang, a style that gives the sitar a voice-like expressiveness.

The Manchester concert is part of the inaugural Legacy of the Maestros™ series, celebrating the depth and beauty of Indian classical music for today’s audiences.
