Galvanizing the Steel Industry’s Future Thanks to Major Developments

A local manufacturing business is positioning itself for future growth thanks to a significant investment to enhance its facilities and capacity.

Manchester Galvanizing Ltd, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, has undergone major redevelopment at its Heywood site which has seen it replace its old galvanizing bath, and introduce new equipment aimed at boosting productivity, quality, and sustainability efforts.

Mark Waters, Commercial Manager at Manchester Galvanizing, explained: “Over the last few months we’ve been working on these improvements to ensure we can continue to keep up with growing demand and deliver a high quality, sustainable service.

“Our new bath replaces our old one which has come to the end of its life. This enables us to process steelwork for projects as varied as small sculptures and commissions, through to large structural steelwork and components for industries as diverse as rail, marine, and construction.

“Our new furnace and heat exchanger will also enhance our efficiencies and further improve the quality and capabilities that we can provide to customers. It’s been a long few months and much hard work but we’re thrilled to now be back up-and-running as normal. We’d also like to thank our customers for their continued patience, and to our sister plants for stepping in and supporting our workload during our downtime.”

Manchester Galvanizing and its sister plant, Wessex Galvanizers, are just two of 14 nationwide Wedge Group Galvanizing plants which have recently undergone significant development, with further investments planned across the board.

Mark added: “We’re hugely grateful to be part of Wedge Group Galvanizing which recognises the need to continually improve, invest, and develop its plants to ensure we remain competitive and can deliver the very best quality, standards, and services for our customers. The sectors we work with are ever–changing but one thing they share is recognition about the importance of using and partnering with firms throughout the supply chain which actively invest in sustainable and forward-thinking practices.”

Manchester Galvanizing is part of Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, the largest hot-dip galvanizing organisation in the UK with a history dating back over 150 years. With 14 plants strategically placed across the country, the firm offers a truly national galvanizing service.
