Frank Ocean cancelled set causes searches for ‘Coachella refund’ to surge almost 700%

Analysis of Google search data reveals that online searches for ‘Coachella refund’ exploded 697% worldwide just hours after news broke that Frank Ocean has pulled out of performing the headliner slot on the second weekend of Coachella.

A new finding by casino experts CasinoAlpha.com revealed that online searches for ‘Coachella refund’ skyrocketed to almost seven times the average volume in one day, ahead of Coachella’s second weekend – a monumental spike in people Googling to get compensation for their tickets, according to the analysis of Google search data.

The searches come ahead of Coachella’s second weekend after the Sunday night headliner, Frank Ocean pulled out of his performance. The rapper, who hadn’t performed live in four years, took to the stage during the first weekend of Coachella, over an hour late and left abruptly due to a ‘curfew’, disappointing many fans that quickly took to social media to express their sadness. Fans who couldn’t attend Coachella were also left frustrated after Frank Ocean made the decision to cut the livestream of his performance. Frank Ocean cites a leg injury as the reason why he is unable to perform this weekend.

A spokesperson for CasinoAlpha.com on the findings:

“Coachella festival is one of the most famous festivals in the world, with celebrities and music fans heading to the desert every April to see some of the most renowned musicians take to the stage.

Having a headliner suddenly cancel will undoubtedly come as frustrating news for fans who have been eagerly awaiting seeing Ocean perform, however, these findings suggest that many festivalgoers may decide to forgo the weekend entirely.”
