Former Emmerdale star Danny Miller 11-4 favourite to crown whirlwind year with I’m A Celeb triumph
With just days to go until I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here returns to our screens, former Emmerdale star Danny Miller enters the Welsh castle as 11-4 standalone favourite.
In Sunday’s live series opener of the hit ITV show, a brand new cast of celebrities will begin facing the challenges of the Welsh countryside.
Final preparations are well underway in Aberdale, home to Gwrych Castle, with the infamous opening trial being fine-tuned over Alexandra Quarry, outside of Caernarfon. And with soap royalty, football legends, musicians and Olympians set to do battle over the next few weeks, this 17th series promises to be box office viewing.
Miller (11-4), 30, who joined the soap back in 2008 and quit after 13 years as Aaron Dingle, is a three-time Best Actor winner at the British Soap Awards. These past 12 months have been something of a whirlwind for the new Dad, having proposed to partner Steph earlier this year, and recently welcoming baby boy Albert into the world.
The Saturdays star Frankie Bridge will walk across the drawbridge five years after husband Wayne entered the jungle, alongside the likes of Scarlett Moffatt, Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas. The 32-year-old singer turned Loose Women star has been amongst the frontrunners to win the show outright for weeks but has relinquished top spot to Miller, and enters as a 4-1 shot.
Simon Gregson, who has played hapless Steve McDonald on the ITV soap for 32 years, clocking up almost 3,500 episodes on the cobbles, has fallen in, and out, of favour with punters, but is locked in at 6-1, alongside two other future campmates.
Breakfast host Richard Madeley, recently appointed as full-time replacement of Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, is also 6-1. Famous for his throw-away quips, and the best locks on breakfast television, ITV regulars are queuing up to see the This Morning legend tackle one of the famous Bushtucker trials.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United legend David Ginola completes the trio of stars on 6-1, continuing the long-standing tradition of former footballers, while former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin is currently 8-1 after swapping BBC Breakfast’s famous red sofa for the castle, after more than 20 years on the flagship breakfast news programme.
Shahid Khan (DJ Naughty Boy) is 12-1, and decorated para-sport athlete and Celebrity Masterchef champion Kadeena Cox, 30, is 14-1, alongside EastEnders’ Ian Beale icon Adam Woodyatt, 53, who has over 3,000 episodes under his belt.
DJ, model and presenter Snoochie Shy is 16-1, Tom Daley’s diving partner and Olympian Matty Lee, 27, is 20-1, and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips, 78, who has choreographed a number of West End and Broadway musicals, waltzes into the castle at 40-1 to win, but 3-1 favourite to be the first eliminated.
