Londoners are turning to shared e-bikes for their daily commutes this summer, as new data from Forest reveals users of its Forest Flex subscription are completing an average of over 10,000 rides per day.

Forest Flex is designed to offer riders greater flexibility when travelling across the Capital. For £6.99 a month, the subscription gives riders unlimited access to 10-minute rides for £1 and 30-minute rides for £1.70.

The scheme is seeing incredible uptake with a 500% growth in its user base since its introduction earlier this year.

Following this strong demand, Forest is launching a new marketing campaign encouraging more Londoners to experience the benefits of shared e-bikes. Titled ‘Flexing All Over London’, the campaign brings together London bodybuilders, everyday Forest riders and the brand’s e-bikes in a series of deliberately exaggerated studio portraits shot by the photographer Guy Bolongaro.

From this week, the campaign will be live across 50 digital out-of-home screens around London, making it Forest’s largest outdoor takeover to-date. The campaign will also run across Forest’s digital and social channels, with a series of short films and images.

The growth of Forest Flex comes during one of the Capital’s hottest summers on record. Data from the London-founded business reveals that commuting is the most popular use of Forest Flex’s 30-minute tier, with subscribers saying that switching to cycling makes their commute less stressful, while offering greater flexibility and more time in the fresh air.*

Forest Flex provides riders with a more affordable way to travel around London. For a daily commute in Zones 1-2 during peak hours, a return journey on Forest Flex costs £3.40, compared with £7.20 on the Tube. Factoring in the £6.99 monthly subscription fee, Forest Flex commuters could pay £47.77 a month, compared with £86.40 spent on the Tube over the same period – nearly half the cost**.

The data also shows that Forest Flex is the cheapest e-bike subscription of its kind in London. A 30-minute ride costs £1.70 with Forest Flex, compared to £3.30 with Lime’s LimePrime and £4.40 with Voi’s Voi+ plan.***

Michael Stewart, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Forest, said: “Since launching Forest Flex, we’ve seen an incredible response from Londoners looking for a more affordable and flexible way to get around the city. Forest Flex offers just that, providing better value than the Tube and other shared e-bike subscriptions in the Capital.

“We’re proud that so many Londoners have already made the switch. Through our new campaign we want to encourage even more people to try cycling, and show that trading a hot, stressful commute for an e-bike isn’t only more enjoyable; it makes financial sense too.”
