The Deaf Institute is getting a brass-powered indie makeover this October when Indie Brass Club brings some of the biggest indie bangers to the stage.

If you ever wondered what anthems from This Charming Man to Sit Down and Mr Brightside to Don’t Look Back in Anger would sound like played by a brass band, then this is the night for you.

Even if you never gave it a second thought, but fancy jumping up and down and singing along (there is no singer – the audience provides the vocals) then this could also be your kind of alternative club night.

Boasting two former members of the historic Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Indie Brass Club’s house band will play two 45 minutes sets, which also include anthems from Arctic Monkeys, The Courteeners, Kaiser Chiefs, The Fratellis and Pulp.

The six-piece group (sousaphone, saxophone, trumpet x 2, trombone and drums) also have a bunch of indie credentials between them, from performing with legends including James, Shed Seven, Lily Allen and Embrace, to being gatecrashed by Blossoms whilst playing at a recent Victoria Baths wedding.

Last summer, they went down a storm at Big Feastival, held at Alex James from Blur’s Cotswolds farm, on a bill that included Faithless, English Teacher and Rizzle Kicks. Friday night headliner Nelly Furtado was so impressed, she asked the band to join her on stage.
