England and Sweden favourites to win UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 according to Nielsen Gracenote
As the quarter-finals in UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 kicks off tomorrow, please find below the updated forecast from Nielsen Gracenote for your reference.
England and Sweden remain the top two favourites but they are now in the same half of the draw so only one can reach the final.
Germany have overtaken both France and the Netherlands and are now third favourites due to the latter two facing each other in the quarter-finals.
There is a 79% chance that England, Sweden, Germany or France will win Euro 2022, up from 65% before the tournament started.
Sweden and Germany are the most likely semi-finalists with 80% and 79% chance respectively of beating their quarter-final opponents Belgium and Austria.
France versus the Netherlands is the tightest quarter-final. France have 54% chance of a semi-final place and the Netherlands 46%.
England have twice as much chance of reaching the semi-finals as Spain. England’s favouritism is mainly down to the home advantage which they enjoy.
There are now 16 possible Euro 2022 finals with England v Germany (16.9%) and Sweden v Germany (16.0%) the most likely to take place on July 31.
Those two finals were estimated by Gracenote to be the third and fifth most likely before the tournament started but the top six most likely pre-tournament are all still possible.
