Engaged couples weighing up locations, venues, themes and those all important budgets, might be in line for an early wedding present, with one award-winning venue launching a wedding competition worth £12,000.

Edgworth-based (Lancs) events venue, The Wellbeing Farm, which recently received major national recognition* as one of the most recommended locations by newlyweds in the UK, came up with the idea to share their success (and a record year to date) with a lucky couple planning to tie the knot next year.

The sustainability focused business, which was the first independent hospitality venue in the UK to achieve the vaunted B Corp status in 2022, runs events from team building activity days, to private parties and weddings,

It is the latter that has proven the most popular this year, with the rush of post-Covid weddings that sparked a frenzy in the market before slowing, showing signs of gathering pace once again.

Founder Celia Gaze explains;

‘The weddings industry is typically cyclical. One year there is a rush and everyone’s getting engaged or married and then there’s a bit of a lull. Sometimes that’s the economy, sometimes something that is happening in society (the pandemic was a huge factor) and sometimes we just can’t explain it. I’ve even heard that years with an odd number in them are outliers.

‘What we do know is that whatever year it is, they are never simple to plan or execute so we thought we would celebrate our success by sharing the load. It is 12 years since we launched as a venue and let’s just say the number “13” doesn’t augur well as a prospect, so we thought why not launch this now and create an unforgettable wedding for one lucky couple worth £12,000? Plus, the number 12 resonates with the themes of completeness, harmony, creativity and self expression. We love that – which other venues have bow-tie wearing llamas?!’
