Early raids saw two people arrested by officers tackling organised crime in Bolton.

Yesterday (Wednesday 27 March 2019), police executed a warrant at an address in Lostock in Bolton.

The warrant was executed as part of Programme Challenger – Greater Manchester’s partnership approach to tackling serious and organised crime.

A 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of possessing class a drugs with intent to supply. They both remain in custody and will be interviewed by detectives later today.

Among the items seized today were quantities of Class A drugs and drugs paraphernalia- including scales, as well as a large machete.

Detective Inspector Dean Purtil, of GMP’s Challenger & Vulnerability team, said: “Programme Challenger will continue to focus on the supply of drugs across our region and I hope today’s arrests reassure members of the public that we are committed to bringing those who willingly participate in such criminality to justice.

“I would like to stress that organised crime causes significant harm to individuals and blights communities –and we will continue to do everything in our power to make the streets of Greater Manchester safer.”
