Drivers Under 35 Demand Usage Based Insurance and Twice as Likely to Switch to Electric Vehicles
DRIVERS UNDER 35 TWICE AS LIKELY AS OVER 45s TO SWITCH TO AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE
Verex Group, the market leader in dedicated connected services to vehicle manufacturers, has published data from a survey of UK drivers* that shows how attitudes are changing towards sharing connected driver data and also what consumers are demanding from their next vehicle purchase. The survey highlighted how demand for electric vehicles varies hugely based on driver age with more than half of drivers (52%) under 34 years old stating they would like their next vehicle purchaseto be electric if affordable, , compared to only 24% of drivers over the age of 45.
The results of the national survey also showed a real shift in drivers’ willingness to share their driving data with a staggering 88% of under 35s happy to share connected data if it was going to save them money or help in an accident. Along with rising demand for Electric Vehicles nearly a third of ALL drivers surveyed (29%) want their next vehicle to include a Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) / Pay as You Drive (PAYD) insurance solution as part of the connected services offered by the vehicle manufacturer.
