DIY Christmas Gifts That Will Charm Loved Ones

With countless festive sales and busy high streets, Christmas shopping can be a very daunting activity. That said, why not gift a loved one with a homemade present this year?

If you want a bit of inspiration, the team at WeThrift have compiled a list of some adorable DIY Christmas-themed gifts, as well as how to make them – and they’re so simple!

1. Teacup candles

As the days get colder and darker, there is no such thing as having too many candles around the home. With this in mind, teacup candles are a great DIY Christmas gift and you’ll be pleased to know that they’re surprisingly easy to make.

What you need

Tea cups
Candle wax
Candle wicks
Hot glue
Optional: crayons (if you want to colour the wax)

Method

Secure the metal circle on the candle wick to the bottom of your tea cup, using hot glue. To keep your wick centred, wrap the top of it around a pencil.
Next, melt your wax in a cooking pan over medium heat. If you want to colour your wax, add a chunk of a coloured crayon when melting.
Remove the wax from the heat and let it cool for a bit. Once a few minutes have passed, carefully pour the wax into each tea cup.
Allow the wax to harden completely before trimming the wick.

2. Reindeer beer

What’s better than a pack of beer? Well, a pack of reindeer beer apparently! This really is the perfect gift for the pint lovers in your life, and not to mention the reindeers make it look extra cute.

What you need

Pack of beer (4 beers)
6 black pipe cleaners
Scissors
8 googly eyes
Small red and green pom poms
Hot glue gun and glue

Method

Wind your black pipe cleaner around the neck of each beer bottle, making sure it sits on the little ridge under the cap.
Twist the cleaners behind the caps and bend the ends upwards to make your antlers.
To create the prongs of your reindeer, cut your remaining pipe cleaners in half and then in half again. Then, twist the cut pieces around the top part of the antlers and finally bend each side up.
Use a glue gun to attach the googly eyes of your reindeer and the pom poms for their noses.

3. Salt shaker festive displays

If you want to treat your loved one to a kitchen display with a festive twist, why not treat them to a DIY festive salt shaker? This is also the perfect way of repurposing old Christmas ornaments that you don’t use anymore.

What you need

Salt shakers – ensure these are big enough to fit your ornaments

To create the snow of your festive display, fill your shaker with salt.
Then, to bring your festive scene to life, fill the contents of your shaker with your ornaments.
