Closure order secured for problem property in Stockport

Officers have successfully secured a closure order for a property in Stockport which has been a source of drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

– The order against a property on Ince Close was secured at court following close work with our partners at Stockport Council and the Safer Neighbourhoods Team at Stockport Homes.

– Our teams and partner colleagues worked closely to build a robust case, and this coordinated action demonstrates our commitment to listening to concerns and taking firm enforcement action where ASB harms our neighbourhoods.

Chief Inspector John Picton, from our Stockport Neighbourhood team, said: “This result follows a considerable amount of hard work, dedication and perseverance by the officers involved.

“I would particularly like to recognise PC Gibson and PCSO John for their commitment and determination throughout this work. Their efforts, alongside those of the wider team, have delivered a fantastic result for the community and shown residents that we listen to and act upon their concerns.

“The impact on the local community was immediately evident, with residents coming out to speak with officers following the execution of the order. They expressed relief that decisive action had been taken and specifically asked for their thanks to be passed on to GMP and our partners.”

Anne-Marie Heil, Director of Customer Services at Stockport Homes Group, added: “This closure order sends a clear message that drug-related activity and persistent anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities.

“Working alongside GMP, Stockport Council and the Safer Neighbourhoods Team, we have taken decisive action to address issues that were having a significant impact on local residents.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and neighbourhood, so we welcome this successful outcome for residents on Ince Close and are grateful to those residents who came forward with concerns. We will continue to work with our partners to protect our neighbourhoods and support communities to thrive.”
