Clean Kitchen Club’s Latest Seed Funding Round Raises Nearly £2 Million, With Another £2 Million Pre-Pledged Via Crowdfunding
Steve Easterbrook, the British-born former CEO of McDonalds; entrepreneur and influencer Grace Beverley; ex-chairman of Quorn Clive Sharpe and TV personality Spencer Matthews are among those whose investments have enabled the second
seed funding round for Clean Kitchen Club to top £2 million. This follows the initial round in November 2021, which saw the disruptive plant-based food brand raise £1.1 million; it has since achieved a £12 million valuation.
In addition, Clean Kitchen Club will close this initial funding round via a week-long crowd fund starting on 8th August, the pre-registration period of which has already seen an astounding £2 million pledged by the brand’s loyal supporters.
The monies raised will be used to help Clean Kitchen Club realise its plans to launch multiple sites nationwide, including an outlet on Soho’s Old Compton Street at the end of this month and a huge 2,441-square-foot flagship
restaurant at Battersea Power Station in August. Five further sites are slated to open in 2022, including Manchester and Brighton.
Co-founders Verity Bowditch and Mikey Pearce have other exciting brand development plans in the pipeline, including the growth of their catering business, which already includes the likes of Amazon, Dior and Sky Studios in its portfolio, and the introduction of a new line of ready meals and grab & go items into supermarkets.
Clean Kitchen Club launched in June 2020 in Mikey’s family kitchen. By the end of 2021, he and Verity had opened five sites across London. By that point, they had already sold over 50,000 burgers and were seeing 30% month-on-month growth; targeted revenue is set to top £10 million next year.
Clean Kitchen Club also has the distinction of being the only plant-based food and lifestyle brand to publish carbon values for each of its menu items, with many receiving an A rating, the highest possible.
Commented Mikey Pearce, “From the moment we launched Clean Kitchen from my aunt’s kitchen in Brighton we have been on a mission to bring plant-based food to the mainstream. The success of our vegan takes on the grab & go classics has surpassed even our wildest dreams. The fact that so many have joined us on this journey, not just in a monetary sense but in advice and practical support, has been the icing on the cake.”
Added Verity Bowditch, “The desire amongst the UK’s leading entrepreneurs, as well as fans of the brand, to invest in our company validates our determination to offer the public great tasting, sustainable protein alternatives. As more and more people start to realise the need to mitigate the impact that meat production is having on the environment, so they are demanding a fresh, dynamic solution that fits seamlessly into their lifestyle. We provide exactly that.”
