Recent statistics from Defra show that 90% of Brits say visiting green spaces boosts both their mind and body, while new research shows time outdoors can lift your mood (75%), reduce stress (38%), improve sleep (28%) and even give your immune system a boost (36%). With such compelling benefits, there’s never been a better excuse to embrace lunch Al Fresco.
That’s exactly what The Royal Horseguards Hotel is inviting guests to do this summer with its new perfectly packed picnic baskets – curated hampers brimming with seasonal treats, ideal for exploring London’s most iconic green spaces in style.
Available daily until 30 September 2025, each handcrafted picnic is served in a vintage-style wicker basket, designed for easy carrying and al fresco elegance. Just steps from the bank of the River Thames, St James’s Park, Green Park and the Victoria Embankment Gardens, The Royal Horseguards is ideally placed for friends, couples and families to soak up the sights of the capital in comfort and style, from riverside strolls to lazy afternoons under the trees.
Guests can choose from two indulgent spreads. The Riverside, priced at £45 per person offers a lighter seasonal selection, including smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, coronation chicken wraps, Mediterranean pasta salad, and summer fruit tarts, accompanied by still or sparkling water. For those seeking something more decadent, The Royal Horseguards Luxe elevates the experience with charcuterie and artisan cheeses, fresh baguettes, indulgent macaroons and chocolate brownies, fresh strawberries, and chilled wine or prosecco for £65 per person. Vegetarian and vegan alternatives are available, and every hamper is thoughtfully packed with reusable bottles, eco-friendly cutlery and napkins.
