BRITS BATHING BADLY: 1 in 5 AREN’T Washing Their Hands After Using the Loo Despite Global Pandemic, Survey Finds

With a global pandemic still very much in our presence, we would like to believe that our hygiene habits have dramatically improved within the last year.

Last January, bath and shower experts at ShowersToYou.co.uk conducted a study to find out Brits’ bathing habits. They have now conducted the same survey to find out how our bathing habits have changed during the pandemic, and the results are shocking.

Possibly the most shocking statistic of all is the fact that 1 in 5 Brits (21%) still do not wash their hands after going to the toilet, despite a global pandemic. However, this has increased from 1 in 4 Brits this time last year.

The age-old discussion of whether it is acceptable or not to pee in the shower looks like it is drawing to a close, with 10% more Brits admitting to this shocking habit than they did last year.

On the topic of showers, the pandemic has certainly seen more of us relax with our self-hygiene. 66% of Brits are not showering every day, a 19% increase from this time last year. 38% shower every 1-3 days and 28% every 4-6 days. Gross.

Last year, a shocking 74% of people admitted to leaving the house without showering. This figure has now risen by 19%, with 93% of people heading outside without cleaning themselves first.

However, there is one positive to take from this survey. 15% more people are now saying that they bathe rather than shower, suggesting the pandemic has left us more time to sit, soak and relax in the tub.

Methodology:

  • ShowersToYou used SurveyMonkey to create the same survey as they used last year to find out how bathing habits had changed
  • They asked 1000 people to answer the questions stated above.
  • ShowersToYou then compared this data with the previous years data to draw conclusions as to how bathing habits have changed.
