BrewDog collaborates with The Vegan Kind on new pale ale

Thousands of beer drinkers are being introduced to the UK’s leading online vegan grocery service thanks to a new collaboration between two innovative brands.

BrewDog has developed a new pale ale in collaboration with The Vegan Kind with the beer being shipped to members of the Scottish brewer’s BrewDog and Friends subscription service next month.

The new beer comes in 330ml cans carrying both BrewDog and The Vegan Kind branding. It will mark Veganuary by introducing BrewDog’s army of craft beer fans to the plant-based online retailer.

The Vegan Kind is well known as the UK’s number one vegan subscription box service and also operates an online vegan supermarket stocking 5,000+products from vegan cheeses to plant-based meats and cruelty free make-up.

Links to fellow Scottish brand BrewDog led to the collaboration with the Ellon based brewer coming up with a unique 5.5% pale ale for The Vegan Kind.

The recipe features sultana and Columbus hops combined with Vienna malts to create a pale ale flavoured with citrus, pineapple and pine.

In the tasting notes BrewDog say, “Together with The Vegan Kind, we’ve conjured a 5.5% pale ale that nods to the celebrated West Coast style. A lively bitterness is accentuated by baskets of ripe pineapple, bright citrus notes and hints of pine.”

They go on to describe The Vegan Kind as, “Pioneers of plant-based groceries, hellbent on making the vegan lifestyle accessible for all. From daily essentials to luxury items, meat-free food to ethical fashion, they’ve got a wealth of products from some of the most sustainable brands in the world.”

The Vegan Kind was founded in 2013 by husband and wife team Scott and Karris McCulloch from their home in Glasgow.

Driven by kindness and compassion The Vegan Kind soon outgrew Scott and Karris’ family home and now operates out of a 30,000 sq ft facility in Glasgow employing more than 60 people.

CEO Scott McCulloch said: “I’ve been a massive fan of BrewDog for several years and regularly enjoy their beers so it’s fantastic to launch this collaboration between them and The Vegan Kind.

“We know that the BrewDog community are deeply passionate about our planet and making carbon-conscious choices with their food and drink, so we are really excited to collaborate. With a plant-based diet being reported to reduce your carbon footprint from food by up to 73%, we hope fans of BrewDog can join in on the TVK mission to Make Plant-Based Living Effortless.”
