The new Best Value Christmas Dinners Report from the personal finance experts at money.co.uk reveals how consumers can stick to a budget regarding their essential food and drink purchases this Christmas season.

The report analyses the offerings of 20 traditionally festive food and drink products across seven UK supermarkets, calculating the average total basket price at each retailer.

So, whether shoppers want to clamp down on their spending or can afford to splash the cash this year, the analysis reveals the best supermarkets for both value and luxury options.

Unsurprisingly, Aldi proved the most affordable supermarket for a Christmas shop, setting back its bargain-loving customers just £39.85.

At the other end of the scale, M&S Food emerged as the most expensive, at £120.60 for a traditional Christmas offering featuring Turkey, pigs in blankets, sprouts, potatoes, mince pies and Christmas Pudding.
