Apple iOS 15 update: World first iPhone compatible hearing aids now available for those suffering hearing loss

At present, the hands-free capability is available to current ReSound ONE users, and those looking to take advantage of the pioneering service simply need to contact their local hearing care professional to book an appointment.

Discussing further how the evolution of modern technology has helped to develop hearing aids, Katie Ogden, audiologist and training manager for ReSound North West Europe, says:

“We have moved from a hearing aid being an ear trumpet to a digital device capable of more than just lifting volume. As industrial technology has evolved so has the technology that exists within hearing aids which is often overlooked in the technological world. In fact hearing aid evolution is incredibly fast paced!

“Most manufacturers will launch new technological advances on average every couple of years with multiple mini launches in between. As microphones, battery solutions, amplifiers, microchips and processors have evolved over time, the hearing aid industry has taken advantage of this and made it their mission to make hearing aids provide the most natural listening experience and attempt to satisfy the full end user experience when it comes to wearing these devices.

“Bluetooth is a great example of how hearing aid technology has incorporated an industrial advancement and made a core feature of improving people’s listening lives. GN Hearing was the first manufacturer to introduce Bluetooth to the mass market in 2010. Since then the industry has become more and more dependent on Bluetooth for communication to external devices such as wireless accessories and smart devices, but also enabling hearing aids to communicate with each other when binaurally fit. Other examples include rechargeability – this is a feature that has been widely adopted within hearing aids empowering end users and making life with a hearing aid far more convenient.”
